Car Nuggets by Patricia Piccinini.
In-line with the policy that all new construction at Docklands will have an exhibit of public art works, the ACE Stage One has on display in the atrium, work by world renowned Australian artist/sculptor Patricia Piccinini.
Piccinini migrated to Australia aged seven, and is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts. Her sculpture series 'Car Nuggets' draws on the automobile for inspiration. She employs professional car modellers and custom painters to make smooth, abstract car-like objects with multi-layered baked automotive finishes, which she airbrushes with designs and tattoo-like images.
Ongoing placement of artworks at the ACE will emphasise its environmental focus, with a greater synergy between the environment and cars.
