ACE Awards Ceremony

The Automotive Centre of Excellence hosted the Parliamentary Secretary for Industry and Trade and the Member for Footscray, Marsha Thomson on February 4, 2008, as it celebrated the remarkable success of the ACE's teachers and students in recent months.
Kangan Batman TAFE CEO Ray Griffiths hosted the awards ceremony that recognised Livo Tomas being named the Best Automotive Teacher in Australia and Nick Viney being named the Best Manufacturing Teacher in Australia by the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence. Vehicle painting apprentice Stuart Aisbett was also recognised for his silver medal winning performance at the International Worldskills Competition in November 2007.
The Automotive Centre of Excellence was also celebrating another accolade. The training facility recently received a 3 Gold Star Rating from The Institute of Trade Skills Excellence. The Gold Star Rating recognises and awards high performing registered training providers with a One Gold Star, Two Gold Star or Three Gold Star rating, with Three Gold Stars being the highest level of recognition.
Representatives of the Automotive Centre of Excellence, Kangan Batman TAFE, the Institute for Trade Skills Excellence, the VACC, Repco, Wurth, PPG and brand new sponsors 3M attended the event.
The Automotive Centre of Excellence and 3M announced the new sponsorship agreement at the awards ceremony. The sponsorship is for 2 years, which will provide the Body, Panel and Paint students with the latest 3M products and technologies.
