A night for motorsports fans
Tuesday 16 June 2009
Motorsports industry representatives gathered at the Automotive Centre of Excellence last week to celebrate the 2008/2009 motorsports year and unveil the Institute's latest competition race cars.
Event organiser Greg Moulden said the event was well attended by industry and ACE supporters, including representatives from Repco, Hyundai and Mercedes.
"A highlight of the event was the unveiling of the car Matthew Brabham, Jack Brabham's grandson, will drive at an upcoming race," he said.
"We had around 190 people come to the event, including Geoff, Matthew's dad, and Brett Youlden, who also took the opportunity to unveil his new Biante Touring Care Masters Monaro."
Guests at the event also had the opportunity to see the ACE Motorsports team's podium-finishing cars and be inspired by former students of Kangan Batman TAFE now working in top-motor racing teams.
"As a leading provider of motorsports training and qualifications, it's important that Kangan Batman TAFE develops strong connections with industry leaders," Greg said.
"Events such as these are an excellent way to not only build these new and existing partnerships, but also to showcase the ACE as a leading automotive training facility."
Footage from the event will be screened on an upcoming episode of Channel 31's In Pit Lane show.
