When it comes to award wins, you can't get much bigger than this. By taking out a gold medal at the annual Worldskills competition, former Kangan Institute student Daniel Kostarakis is at the top of his field.

Daniels teachers say he was a cert to take out the gold medal nod - he's a dedicated learning, passionate about his trade and eager to make his mark in a competitive industry.

At all times, Daniel has been an outstanding apprentice, winning awards at all levels of his training.

When he completed his training in 2008 he maintained his skills in the workshop and at Kangan Institute to keep abreast of the ever-changing workshop methods and technology. He has a great interest in restoring certain early model vehicles and has done some outstanding work on a number of cars.

Currently self-employed, Daniel is working on a range of different projects while building up his own customer base at the same time.

Daniel's win at the competitive Worldskills event shows that he's got what it takes to match it with Australia's best.
