Hot Laps Awarded to Outstanding Kangan Institute at the ACE Students

On Tuesday 20 September 2011, some of Kangan Institute's most outstanding automotive students were treated to V8 Supercar Hot Laps at Calder Raceway thanks to SP Tools.
Kangan Institute at the Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) and SP Tools see an outstanding future partnership opportunity at the ACE. The quality of SP Tools' products and involvement with our students' learning and recognition has been a positive industry relationship.
The Stone Brothers (SBR) first spotted Shane Van Gisbergen when he was racing in the Formula Ford and the Toyota Racing Series as an 18-year old and he subsequently joined the team during the season and made his V8 debut at Oran Park.
Shane quickly showed he had the skills to be a regular top ten finisher and collected 12 top ten results and won race two at Sandown. Now, the stage is set for this polite and modest young lad to have a breakout season in 2011. Clearly a raw talent with a big future; Shane is driving the #9 SBR Falcon backed by SP Tools for the fourth straight season.
He's an emerging superstar from New Zealand motorsport. He enjoyed a successful first full season in the V8 Supercars Championship in 2008 and inched closer to finishing in the top 10 in the championship in 2009. In 2010 Shane began with nine podium finishes that helped put SBR back towards the front of the V8 Supercar pack.
Neil Marshall, Operation Manager of Kangan Institute at the ACE in Docklands, is proud of the relationship that has been built with SP Tools. "SP Tools have been an important and supportive industry partner in our Motorsport department," he said.
"Through their backing, SP Tools had the vision to provide wider support and were key Automotive Sponsors of the 2011 Technical Group Awards evening."
This support saw the opportunity for the Kangan Institute's outstanding automotive student award winners to spend a day immersed in Shane's enthusiasm trackside and inside the car for their 'Hot Laps' reward.

To see Shane, a credible up and coming star share his ideas, young wisdom and enthusiasm along with SP Tools' support has really highlighted the SP and Kangan Institute relationship and its importance in linking industry with learning."
